Lauran founded Bark & Breakfast RVA after recognizing the need for private and personalized pet care, especially following the loss of her two senior rescue pups, Mayci and Rily, in 2022. As a devoted dog owner and frequent business traveler, Lauran had consistently received excellent service from professional pet sitters but longed for a more personalized option that catered specifically to the individual needs of her pets. She understood the importance of companionship for dogs and often wrestled with the decision between group boarding and the standard in-home visits that typically lasted 30 to 45 minutes.

With her home feeling empty and missing the comforting presence of her dogs, Lauran envisioned a way to reintroduce the joy of having dogs in her life in a more meaningful and intentional way. Drawing on her 20-year career in hospitality and tourism, her experience as a professional pet sitter, and her inherent desire to serve others, she conceptualized a unique bed and breakfast experience for dogs—hence, Bark & Breakfast RVA was born.
